The news of the 10th Annual Conference in Argentina

BEIJING, Oct. 1 - The 10th Annual Conference of the International Association of Neurorestoratology (IANR) was held in the Argentinean capital Buenos Aires from September 28 to 30. The theme of this annual session is to promote the clinical study of neurorestoration. More than 300 experts from all over the world attended the conference.

During the meeting, more than 70 delegates from around the world made presentations and speeches on spinal cord injury (SCI), stroke, pediatric cerebral palsy, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, optic nerve injury, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and chorea, etc. Cell therapy (Including stem cells and functional cells), nano-drug technology, optical genetics, neurostimulation, tissue engineering and bioengineering, cell activity factors (including exosomes), 3D print nerve repair catheters, anesthesia neurological protection, etc., represents the current level of the world's cutting-edge medical technology in Neurorestoratology.

One of the highlights of this conference is that SCI restoration has achieved more clinical evidences. At present, the SCI studies in China, the United States, Britain, Poland, Argentina, India, Spain and other countries confirmed that the use of olfactory ensheathing cells, umbilical cord blood mononuclear cells, umbilical cord mesenchymal cells, Schwann cells, peripheral nerve tissue transplantation with integrative neurorestoration (including rehabilitation) treatment, had

been able to restore the neurological functions for patients with complete SCI, some patients can even re-stand and walk.

Another of the highlights of this conference is that preliminary results of series multicenter randomized double-blind and placebo control clinical studies conducted by Chinese Association of Neurorestoratology has aroused strong repercussions, in which cells are transplanted through olfactory intra-mucosa for central nervous diseases or damage. Preliminary results show functional recovery in one third patients, which are consistent with the expected results. These cell therapy studies are the current biggest clinical researches to get the strongest evidence -based medical evidence in Neurorestoratology.

The conference decided to set up the Raisman Neurorestoratology Foundation to commemorate the world famous neuroscientist, one of the major founders of the IANR, and Academician of the Royal Academy of Sciences of UK, Professor Raisman. This foundation will be used to support high-level prospective multicenter randomized double-blind and placebo control clinical research, and the international exchanges and training of the global youth scholars in Neurorestoratology.

Dr. Zhijian Wei and Rongrong Zhu got the first and second winner in Raisman Youth Forum of this year.

After the selection, the 11th Conference is to be held in October 2018, the United States.
